As an extension of the weekly scripture and devotion offering through the FastPrayGive.org program, we’re proud to offer a Lenten devotion guide. (March 2 – April 17)
Welcome to Triptych for Lent 2022! A “triptych” (from the Greek, “triptukhon,” that is, “three-fold”) is an art piece in three panels or sections, often hinged together, both literally and thematically.
This season we draw inspiration from the heart of Jesus’ teaching in the Sermon on the Mount: The Lord’s Prayer. This answer to the disciple’s request to be taught how to pray has informed and formed disciples from then until now. Many of us learn it before we learn to read. From this foundational prayer we look at three key ideas that form a Triptych present in the Lord’s Prayer which are provision, pardon, and protection. Each day’s devotion comprises a selection of scripture, a reflection, and prayer. These daily readings span Ash Wednesday through Easter (March 2 – April 17, 2022).
Let us move forward together into Lent, beginning on Ash Wednesday, that somber time naming our mortality, even as we claim God’s provision, pardon, and protection. Know that each of us is joined around the world by others traveling this same pathway to Easter!
